Angels Display at St Cuthbert’s
St Cuthbert’s hosted a display of angels in church made by local community groups as well as folk from St Mary’s Church in Sherburn and St Giles Church in Durham. A gala evening opened the display with the Voices Together choir performing on snowy winters evening in the church. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the beautiful displays in the church.
SCUFFs Talk Jesus with Bishop Chris Edmondson
On Friday 3 March, SCUFFs were visited by Bishop Chris Edmondson as part of the Talking Jesus Bishop’s in Misson. They had a Q&A session with Bishop Chris and asked him lots of questions from life, the universe and everything. It was wonderful to welcome Bishop Chris to SCUFFs to share conversations and fellowship together.
St Cuthbert’s host inaugural Christmas Tree Festival
Between 8-11 December, St Cuthbert’s hosted their first Christmas Tree celebration festival. There were over 30 Christmas trees decorated by local community groups, businesses and churches. The festival began with a special Gala evening featuring music from renowned North East Duo James Birkett and Emma Fisk and ended with a community carol service on Sunday 11th. The church was decorated beautifully and congratulations to everyone that designed, volunteered and supported the festival. It was a truly wonderful event. St Giles’, St Mary’s and St Cuthbert’s celebrate the ordination of Rev. Dr Richard Briggs | 3 July 2016
On Sunday 3 July, a united eucharist was held at St Giles Church, Durham to celebrate the ordination of Rev. Dr Richard Briggs. We were delighted to welcome Rev. John Chapman, Chaplain to St George’s Church, Barcelona as our guest preacher. Congratulations to Richard and we look walking with him as he enters the next phase of his ministry. Thank you to everyone that participated in the service and who helped with the picnic afterwards!
